We create a better vision and provide the most comfortable treatment available with the use of lasers, three dimensional imaging, and digital scanning. Jon M. Julian received his Doctor of Dental Science degree from the University of Missouri at Kansas City Dental School in 1978 after doing his undergraduate work at the University of Kansas. A native Kansan, Jon and his wife Karen have six children. He lived and practiced dentistry in McPherson, KS from 1978-2011. He and his wife visited South Carolina for a vacation, and immediately fell in love with the area. From that visit, a dream was conceived to build an office in the Travelers Rest area of South Carolina. The Julians relocated to South Carolina in December 2011, and opened his new practice~The Dental Retreat at Mountain Park.
Dr. Julian maintains an active membership in the American Dental Association, South Carolina Dental Association, Academy of Laser Dentistry, International College of Oral Implantologists and Doctors for Oral Conscious Sedation. Dr. Julian was the original Implant Instructor and charter member of the Dr. Dick Barnes Group. He lectures extensively throughout the United States and Europe on dental implants, new technology, and the use of lasers in dentistry.
Anthony Schwigel received his Doctor of Dental Surgery Degree from the University of Minnesota School of Dentistry after completing his undergraduate education at Bob Jones University in Greenville, SC. Anthony attended dental school as a recipient of a full scholarship from the United States Navy. He served as a Naval Dental Officer stationed with the 2nd Marine Expeditionary Force at Camp Lejeune, NC from 2014 to 2018 before transitioning into civilian practice. He joined The Dental Retreat in January 2019. During his time with the military, Dr. Schwigel pursued advanced education in operative dentistry, periodontics, implant dentistry, digital dentistry, and oral surgery.
Dr. Schwigel spends his free time with his wife, Stephanie, and their 5 boys. Together, they are active in their church and community. Activities and hobbies include just anything in the outdoors, woodworking, and music.
As Office Manager at The Dental Retreat, Kathy works hard to ensure that the practice is in order and that our patients have all of the information they need to make decisions regarding their dental needs. Kathy has been in the Dental Practice Management field for over 16 years, and is very passionate about dentistry and the quality of treatment that Dr. Julian provides! So passionate in fact, that she moved her family from Kansas, where she worked with Dr. Julian in his practice there, to South Carolina in 2012. She also helps Dr. Julian with his education company, North Star Dental Education.
Kathy enjoys working with patients on everything from arranging treatment and financial plans, scheduling appointments, to making a cup of coffee for them. She is never too busy to take the time to sit down with patients and give them some peace of mind regarding the treatment decisions they are making.
Kathy enjoys spending time with her husband, Mason and their son Luke, who is a Sophomore in High School. Some of her favorite hobbies are reading, shopping and taking care of her new addiction-CHICKENS!
Originally from York, South Carolina, Susie moved to Greenville in 1992 to attend dental hygiene school at Greenville Technical College. She understands the dental chair is not everyone’s favorite place to be, so she approaches her appointments with a light hearted enthusiasm while at the same time keeping her patient’s health and dental goals as her top priority. Working hand in hand with Dr. Julian and Dr. Beshore to help a patient achieve the healthy and beautiful smile they have always wanted makes every day a rewarding one.
Susie resides in Greenville with her two rescue dogs and cat. She also has two nieces and two Godsons.In her spare time Susie enjoys cooking, gardening, playing the piano, flat water kayaking, reading, and hiking the beautiful South Carolina trails.
Tracy is a dental assistant at The Dental Retreat. She is a local, residing near beautiful downtown Greenville. She is married and the mother of two adult children, Sarah and Jesse and two adult step-children, Katelyn and Courtney. The light of Tracy’s life is her five “flawless” grandchildren ranging in ages of 1 week to 10 years! Tracy has been assisting in the dental field for seven years. She was a medical assistant for four years prior to joining dentistry. Much of Tracy’s experience in the medical office translates to the dental field, making her a valued part of the practice. She has become proficient in the areas of chairside assisting, dental radiography, lab work and various techniques that are crucial to a dental practice. Tracy has come to love dentistry in this practice because of the variety of procedures we have to offer! When Tracy is not at the office, she enjoys spending time with her family and friends, hiking, biking, camping and road trips without a map!
Originally from Nebraska, The Upstate has been home to Lisa and her family for almost two years.Lisa is a Dental Assistant at The Dental Retreat. She joins our team with almost 20 years of dental assisting experience. Lisa enjoys working in an office with a wide variety of procedures. She looks forward to insuring that patients have the best dental experience possible.
When she’s not working, Lisa enjoys spending time with her husband (Jeff) and their three dogs (Bogey, Ellie, and Chloe). Her hobbies include baking, cookie and cake decorating and crafting.
Kayla has been in the dental field for 5 years and has been a part of The Dental Retreat family for over 3 years. She graduated from the Dental Assisting program at Greenville Technical College, in Greenville SC with an Expanded Dental Assisting Degree. Kayla loves the clinical side of dentistry and being a part of the Dental Retreat team allows her to work in an office using the most current technology and techniques. While she loves being a part of the clinical process, Kayla‘s favorite part of Dental Assisting is being able to build and maintain relationships with our patients. Helping them to learn the value of good dental health is very important to her.
Kayla and her family are natives of Greer, SC. Her favorite past times are spending time with her beautiful family, staying active and playing music.
Sharda works at The Dental Retreat as a front office team, Sharda is originally from India but moved to the U.S. in 1988. She has been working in Accounting for 30 years. Her favorite part about working at The Dental Retreat is interacting with patients, listening to patient’s stories and seeing them depart with a smile on their face makes everyday unique and worthwhile. When Sharda is not working, she enjoys cooking, spending time with her family and friends and traveling.
Lisa is a front office team member for The Dental Retreat. She was born and raised here in the upstate. She has worked in the dental field for nearly 25 years.She graduated from the dental assisting program at Greenville Technical College in 1994 and was certified by the national dental assisting board. Lisa enjoys interacting with patients and makes every effort to meet their scheduling needs as well as answer questions that they may have. She spends her free time with family and you can often find her in the mountains of Tennessee at her and her husband’s mountain home.
